Gordon's performance raises start debate for England against Mexico

Summary

Anthony Gordon's impact as a substitute helped England defeat DR Congo 2-1 in the World Cup round of 16. Bringing two assists for Harry Kane after entering the match while England was trailing, Gordon has prompted coach Thomas Tuchel to reconsider his starting lineup ahead of the quarterfinal against Mexico. The 25-year-old winger's speed and pressing ability provide a compelling case for inclusion, especially given the altitude challenge at Estadio Azteca. Tuchel has not finalized his ideal XI, having made multiple changes throughout the tournament, leaving the left-wing position open for competition between Gordon and Marcus Rashford.
