Grand Valley State overcomes early deficit to beat West Texas A&M

Grand Valley State University defeated West Texas A&M 56-14 on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Lubbers Stadium in Allendale. The Lakers recovered from an early fumble returned for a touchdown by West Texas A&M to score 56 unanswered points in the season home opener. Quarterback Andrew Schuster threw for 283 yards and five touchdowns, while Kellen Reed finished with 155 receiving yards and three scores. Kellen Russell-Dixon added 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries to pace the GVSU ground attack. The Lakers' defense contributed to the win by securing four interceptions, including two from Troy Temple. Grand Valley State moved to 2-0 on the season with the victory.
