Granit Xhaka credited Mikel Arteta for his personal and professional growth during his time at Arsenal. Speaking on The Sports Agents podcast, the Sunderland captain noted that Arteta helped him recover after his 2019 confrontation with supporters and eventually reach a new level as a player. Xhaka highlighted the manager's early efforts to build a strong dressing room culture, which included organizing staff and players to foster mutual respect. The 33-year-old midfielder compared the environment created by Arteta to the culture he later experienced under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen. Xhaka currently leads Sunderland against his former club, Arsenal, in a Premier League match tonight. The midfielder previously left the Gunners in 2023 after rebuilding his relationship with the club.
