Many matches in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature grass sourced from Northern Colorado. The grass, grown by Platteville’s Green Valley Turf, will be used at venues in Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas, which all have climate-controlled stadiums. The proprietary mix of Kentucky bluegrass and perennial rye was developed for optimal performance in the cooler indoor settings. The grass for each pitch was harvested and shipped in late May, requiring 24 semi-trucks for transport. A total of 24 out of 104 World Cup matches will be held at these sites, marking a significant contribution from Colorado to the tournament.
