Great Britain and Ireland compete against USA in Walker Cup at Lahinch

Summary

Great Britain and Ireland face the United States in the Walker Cup this weekend at Lahinch in County Clare. The event features a 10-man team for each side, including Midlanders Ben Bolton and Sam Easterbrook making their debuts for Great Britain and Ireland. Unlike the Ryder Cup, the competition spans two days and consists of 26 total points, with foursomes held in the mornings and singles matches in the afternoons. The United States enters as the defending champion, holding the trophy after a long period of dominance in the event's history. The biennial tournament was adjusted to an even-numbered year to avoid scheduling conflicts with the Eisenhower Trophy.
