Great Britain and Ireland's Curtis Cup team aims for its first victory on U.S. soil in 40 years at the 44th Curtis Cup, taking place at Bel-Air Country Club. Captain Catriona Matthew noted the strong competition from the American team, which holds an average World Amateur Golf Ranking of 13.6 compared to GB&I’s 117. GB&I's last win in the U.S. was in 1986, and they have faced nine winless attempts in U.S. competitions since, only achieving one tie.
