The 45th annual Great North Run is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, with 63,000 participants expected to navigate the course from Newcastle to South Shields. The race event begins at 10:20 am BST with the elite wheelchair category, followed by the elite women’s race at 10:25 am and the elite men’s and mass start at 10:50 am. Defending champions Alex Mutiso and Sheila Chepkirui return to compete, while Eilish McColgan joins the field following her recovery from a foot injury. The route spans from the A167 in Newcastle, crossing the River Tyne into Gateshead before concluding at the South Shields seafront.
