Gregory-Portland hires Joe Curiel as head baseball coach

Gregory-Portland ISD announced on June 23 that Joe Curiel has been appointed the head baseball coach for the Wildcats. Curiel, who has over 20 years of coaching experience and more than 250 career victories, previously led the Moody Trojans, guiding them to five state semifinal appearances and three state championship games. He succeeds Ronnie Jonse, who has been with the program since 2020. Last season, Gregory-Portland finished with a 20-13-1 record and reached the bi-district round of the playoffs after finishing third in District 29-5A.
