Guardians acquire Foster Griffin from Nationals before trade deadline

Summary

The Cleveland Guardians traded for All-Star left-hander Foster Griffin from the Washington Nationals on August 3, shortly before the MLB trade deadline. In exchange, the Nationals received four prospects: RHP Kendeglys Virguez, LHP Will Dion, LHP Josh Hartle, and OF Nick Mitchell. Griffin, who has a 3.06 ERA this season, bolsters the Guardians' rotation as they aim for a playoff push. The Nationals, amid a losing streak, opted to part ways with Griffin, moving towards a rebuilding phase with the returned prospects.
