Guardians pitcher Carlos Hernández returns to major league roster

Cleveland Guardians reliever Carlos Hernández returned to the major league roster on Sept. 1 following a long recovery from a serious car accident in January. The crash in Venezuela resulted in severe injuries including a broken femur and a deep laceration on his arm. Hernández credited his therapist and the Guardians organization for providing the support necessary to return to professional baseball after fearing his career might be over. The team promoted him as a September roster expansion move alongside utility player Daniel Schneemann. Manager Stephen Vogt expressed satisfaction with his recovery and availability to contribute to the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
