Haas evaluates five candidates for 2027 Formula 1 race seat

Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed five drivers are under consideration for a 2027 Formula 1 seat. The candidates include reserve drivers Jack Doohan and Ryō Hirakawa, alongside McLaren junior Leonardo Fornaroli and Ferrari Driver Academy member Rafael Câmara. While Esteban Ocon currently holds the seat, the team is using the Testing of Previous Cars program to evaluate performance across the candidate pool. Testing has taken place at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and is scheduled to continue in Spain. Komatsu stated that performance remains the primary factor in the decision-making process, downplaying the role of commercial or technical affiliations with partners like Ferrari and Toyota. He emphasized that the goal is to sign the fastest available drivers to maximize the team's competitiveness in the championship.
