Hanson, Avon face off in Class B softball quarterfinals on Thursday

College SportsHanson and Avon will meet in the Class B softball quarterfinals Thursday at noon at the Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen. Hanson, the fourth seed with an overall record of 18-4, has won two of four matchups against other qualifiers. Avon, the fifth seed, enters with a record of 16-7 and is coming off a victory over Scotland/Menno in the SoDak 16. This matchup marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2024. The winner will compete against either top-seeded Castlewood or eighth-seeded Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy in the semifinals on Friday. McCook Central/Montrose, the hottest team with 14 straight wins, is also in action, facing Redfield at 2 p.m.
