Haylee Jackson and Kody Koerner recognized as athletes of the week

Haylee Jackson of Colo-NESCO and Kody Koerner of Gilbert have been named the Ames Tribune's female and male Athletes of the Week for June 7-13. Jackson received 75% of the votes, achieving a strong performance despite a 19-9 loss to Riceville, where she went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, and three RBIs. Koerner, earning 48% of the votes, pitched a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts in Gilbert's 2-0 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden. Their performances highlight their contributions to their respective teams during this week's competition.
