Hezly Rivera wins U.S. all-around gymnastics title with comeback performance

Hezly Rivera claimed victory at the U.S. all-around gymnastics championships held in Phoenix on August 6. The 18-year-old gymnast surged from fourth place after the first night of competition to win with a total of 111.95 points, finishing ahead of Claire Pease by 1.15 points. Rivera's performance included overcoming a fall on the uneven bars the previous night. This title marks her second consecutive all-around championship, a feat achieved by only one other gymnast in the last 13 years. A selection competition for the U.S. women's team for the World Championships will take place from September 29 to October 1 in Crossville, Tennessee, where the final roster for the event will be determined.
