H/H Wood Ducks top Canova, reach Class B state amateur semifinals

On August 15, the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks secured their first-ever trip to the Class B state amateur baseball tournament semifinals with an 11-6 victory over Canova at Cadwell Park. The game was close for the first four innings, tied at 1-1, before the Wood Ducks exploded for six runs in the fifth inning. They maintained their lead, despite a late rally from Canova, which cut the deficit to 8-6 in the eighth. H/H scored three insurance runs in the ninth to finish strong, led by player JJ Jesson, who contributed offensively and also closed the game on the mound. The Wood Ducks (19-6-1) will face Clark on Saturday, seeking a spot in the championship game.
