FootballHoly Name defeated Madison 16-13 on Friday night at Dick Hamblin Field. Despite outgaining Holy Name 308 to 178 in total rushing yards, Madison struggled with three lost fumbles and a blocked punt. Madison narrowed the deficit to 16-13 late in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Dom Gephart. The Blue Streaks reached the 1-yard line in the final seconds, but Gephart was stopped short on fourth down to end the scoring threat. Tailback Colt Troy scored both touchdowns for Holy Name, both on 1-yard runs in the second quarter. Madison coach Mike Gilligan cited mental and physical mistakes as primary factors in the outcome. Madison drops to 1-2 overall and will face Chardon next Friday, while Holy Name moves to 2-1 and is scheduled to play at Cleveland Central Catholic on Sept. 18.
