Hornets waive Pat Connaughton ahead of season opener

Summary

The Charlotte Hornets have waived Pat Connaughton after one season as they prepare for the 2026-27 NBA season, which begins on October 21 against the Brooklyn Nets. With mounting injury issues, coach Charles Lee's roster features a mix of youth and veteran players, but Connaughton, seen as a veteran presence, will not be part of the plan moving forward. He averaged 2.6 points and 1.5 rebounds in 42 games last season. This decision aligns with a need for roster flexibility, considering the Hornets’ injury challenges concerning players like Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller.
