Houston Astros promote prospect Jason Schiavone to Triple-A Sugar Land

The Houston Astros promoted catching prospect Jason Schiavone from Double-A Corpus Christi to Triple-A Sugar Land on September 8, 2026. The organization's sixth-ranked prospect has produced a significant statistical season, leading the system with 31 home runs, 86 RBI, a.533 slugging percentage, and 219 total bases. Schiavone previously earned back-to-back Minor League Player of the Month honors in April and May while moving from High-A Asheville to the Double-A level. Currently, the catcher has recorded 29 stolen bases to go along with his 31 home runs across two levels. This performance puts him on track to potentially become the first player in Minor League Baseball to achieve a 30-home run, 30-stolen base season this year.
