Hydroplane racing returns to White Lake Township on August 15-16

High-speed hydroplane racing is set to return to White Lake Township on August 15-16 after a decade-long absence. The Quake on the Lake event will feature seven classes of inboard hydroplanes racing on a 1-mile course at Pontiac Lake, with boats reaching speeds over 120 mph. Organized by the Marine Prop Riders, Michigan’s oldest boat racing organization, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. More than 40 race boats from multiple states are expected to participate. Admission will be free to the public with a Michigan recreation passport, which costs $20.
