ICC reverses demerit point on Gaddafi Stadium pitch for ODI

The International Cricket Council’s appeals panel on Thursday revoked the demerit point imposed on the Gaddafi Stadium pitch in Pakistan. The pitch in Lahore had been handed the demerit point following an unsatisfactory rating for the third ODI between Pakistan and Australia in June. The ICC said the appeals panel rescinded the sanction after reviewing match footage, match referee’s report and official comments from the respective captain and concluding that “the pitch did not demonstrate excessive unevenness or spin.”

The ICC has withdrawn the demerit point given to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium pitch after reviewing an appeal by the PCB. The Appeals Panel examined match footage, referee reports and captains’ comments before finding the pitch satisfactory. It said the surface did not show excessive unevenness, seam movement or spin. Pakistan had won the ODI series 2-1.
