IIHF extends Russia's ban through 2027, impacting Kucherov and Vasilevskiy

This decision directly affects Tampa Bay Lightning players Nikita Kucherov and Andrei Vasilevskiy, who have not participated in international tournaments since winning bronze at the 2019 World Championship. The ban prevents the Russian National Team from competing in several key events, including the 2027 Men's World Championship and the 2027 World Junior Championship. The IIHF cited reasons related to safety, security, operational feasibility, and sport integrity. A review regarding the 2027 Women's World Championship is scheduled for November.
