Ilya Nabokov sees two performances in Avalanche preseason games

Ilya Nabokov participated in two preseason games for the Colorado Avalanche. On September 21, he replaced Mackenzie Blackwood and stopped 16 of 17 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Utah Mammoth. However, during the next game on September 22 against the Winnipeg Jets, he allowed two goals on five shots. Nabokov's transition from the KHL requires adjustment to the net-front traffic typical in AHL games, as noted by head coach Jared Bednar. The Avalanche may play him in at least one more preseason game as the schedule progresses.
