Ime Udoka adds shooting coach Chip Engelland to Houston Rockets staff

Head coach Ime Udoka confirmed the addition of Chip Engelland to the Houston Rockets coaching staff during a community event on September 11. Engelland joins the organization ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, where he will focus on player shooting development. While Udoka initially indicated at the end of the previous season that he did not anticipate coaching changes, the availability of Engelland prompted a shift in plans. Engelland previously worked with several members of the current Houston coaching staff, including Garrett Jackson, Ben Sullivan, and Cam Hodges, during their time together in San Antonio. He is currently working with players at the Houston practice facility, with training camp scheduled to open later this month. Young roster members Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard are among those expected to work with the veteran assistant to improve their shooting performance this year.
