India and Pakistan cricket teams meet in Asian Games final amid handshake debate

The Asian Games cricket final between India and Pakistan is ongoing in Japan. The match, held today, has drawn attention to the handshake protocols between the teams, especially following past instances where Indian squads opted not to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts due to cross-border tensions. In previous multi-sport events, Indian athletes in other disciplines have engaged in handshakes without issue. The final decision regarding handshakes will be made by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and senior officials present in Japan, while both teams are expected to participate together in the medal ceremony regardless of the handshake outcome.
