Infantino pledges more funding to Fifa members from cash reserves

Fifa President Gianni Infantino has announced that more money could be distributed to Fifa members from the organization's estimated £4.4 billion cash reserves. In a letter to six continental confederations, he emphasized support for increased funding amidst pressure following the failure of his Fifa Forward Enterprise plan, which aimed to sell stakes in World Cup rights. This comes as Uefa and Concacaf have called for Fifa to allocate $10 million to each of its 211 members. The Fifa Council is set to discuss this proposal on October 15. Infantino's intentions follow criticism over his previous financial strategies and he will seek re-election in March 2027.
