Ioan Hepburn wins gold at UCI Junior Track World Championships

Ioan Hepburn claimed gold in the men’s sprint event at the 2026 UCI Junior Track World Championships on Saturday in Zolder, Belgium. The 18-year-old from Cross Ash dominated the semi-finals, defeating South Korea's Hajin Jeon 2-0 before securing the title with another 2-0 victory against Italy's Matteo Ghirelli in the final. This win marks Hepburn's first individual world title and makes him the first British male to win this category since 2006. Hepburn's performance comes following a disappointing outing at the Commonwealth Games where he had to withdraw due to illness.
