Iowa football receives commitment from offensive lineman James Barnett

Class of 2028 offensive lineman James Barnett has officially committed to Iowa football on July 31. Barnett, a 3-star prospect from Iowa City West High School and the son of Iowa offensive line coach George Barnett, is highly regarded as the 5th ranked player in Iowa's 2028 recruiting class. He previously received offers from Miami (OH) and South Dakota, but chose Iowa following an offer extended in June. In high school, Barnett played as starting center during a successful season and has excelled in track, placing 2nd in shot put at the state meet. He is the second recruit for Iowa's 2028 class, joining defensive back Dwayle Smith.
