Iowa runners shine at FISU America Games in Peru

Iowa athletes excelled at the FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, from July 31 to August 1. Allen Bonnesen won gold in the men's 10,000 meters with a time of 30:35.09, finishing ahead of fellow Iowan Colin Lillie, who secured silver. Peyton Steffen captured gold in the women's 3,000 steeplechase, while Amelia Hill took silver. Dylan Grandon finished narrowly behind in the men's 800. The inaugural Des Moines Triathlon featured Tyson Wieland winning the Olympic distance in 1:55:43.2, and TJ Tollakson claimed victory in the sprint triathlon.
