Iran clubs set to face UAE and Qatari teams in Champions League

Iranian clubs Esteghlal and Tractor will compete at neutral venues against UAE and Qatari sides in the AFC Champions League Elite, starting September 14. The matches come amid regional tensions following attacks by the US and Israel on Iran earlier this year. Esteghlal will face Al Ain, Al Wasl, and Shabab Al-Ahli, while Tractor will meet Al Gharafa, Al Sadd, and Al Shamal. The Iranian domestic league had resumed recently after being suspended due to conflict, with matches played under restricted conditions. All knockout phase matches will be held in Saudi Arabia, culminating in the final on May 1.
