Italy sets deadline for Guardiola amid salary negotiations for head coach role

Summary

Pep Guardiola, seeking a €20m-a-year salary to coach the Italy national team, is expected to provide a definitive answer by early next week. Reports indicate that the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) may only offer €10m per season. This situation follows talks between FIGC officials and Guardiola in Barcelona regarding the vacant coaching position, previously held by Roberto Mancini. Other candidates for the role include Antonio Conte and Andrea Pirlo. The FIGC will hold a federal council meeting on the same day Guardiola is expected to respond.
