Ivory Coast reappoints Herve Renard ahead of AFCON qualifiers

Herve Renard has been reappointed as the coach of Ivory Coast, the Ivorian football federation announced. Renard, who previously led the team to victory in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, replaces Emerse Fae, whose contract was not renewed after a World Cup campaign that saw the team reach the knockout stage for the first time in four tries. Renard will begin his second stint with the team as they prepare for their opening 2027 AFCON qualifier against Ghana in September. The tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
