Jack Beck, a graduate of Columbia Central, was selected by the Houston Astros in the 13th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 12. Beck, taken 391st overall, is the first player from Columbia Central drafted since 2015. He had an impressive season, batting.413 with 12 home runs and earning District 12-4A Player of the Year honors. Beck has committed to Georgia Southern but indicated that playing professional baseball was his main goal leading up to the draft.
