"Over the past few weeks, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez has been doing a version of the old Finn Watch gag we did after Finn Bálor’s 2016 labrum tear. Just yesterday, Alvarez’s latest exclusive “Jack Perry AEW contract update” was again that Perry had yet to re-sign. It did advance the story slightly by saying Jungle Jack’s deal was up very soon. Which is not a knock on Alvarez or the Observer… no outlet on the wrestle web is perfect (certainly not us), and we’re all trying whatever we can think of to survive on the AI-obsessed internet of 2026. I bring it up because interest in the former AEW TNT and National champion doesn’t exactly feel on the same level as Bálor after he was forced to relinquish the Universal title less than 24 hours after winning it. Pretty sure I wasn’t alone in thinking the AEW Original’s re-signing was a foregone conclusion. While there will always be interest in Perry because of his backstory, and he remains talented and young. But he’s smaller than WWE prefers it’s stars to be on the main roster, and may not want to be the new WWE champ’s co-worker again any time soon. Foregone or not, our conclusion was the correct one. On the Beach Break episode of Dynamite tonight (July 8) Perry announced he’s staying with Luchasaurus, the rest of The Elite and the love of his life Anna Jay… at least for however long all their deals are. Jungle Jack shakes with Tony Khan over his newest deal at the end of this video, which does a good job recapping all the kayfabe history Perry has in AEW (and winking at his behind-the-scenes history with the “definitely made a few enemies” bit). It also strives to reframe Jack’s story toward his own feel-good title win down the road… The journey continues!@boy_myth_legend has officially re-signed with All Elite Wrestling and is ready to keep pushing the limits in #AEW!
