Jack Wilson joins Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame as first 21st-century inductee

Shortstop Jack Wilson has been named to the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame as part of the team's fifth-annual class. He becomes the first player from the 21st century to receive the honor, joining historical figures Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, and Honus Wagner. Wilson played 10 seasons for Pittsburgh after an acquisition from the St. Louis Cardinals in 2000. During his tenure, he earned a reputation for defensive play, leading MLB in double plays and defensive metrics in the mid-2000s. He recorded 1,158 hits and 1,128 games at shortstop for the club. Wilson will be inducted alongside left-handers Wilbur Cooper and John Candelaria.
