Jackson Meeks secures roster spot with Lions after position change

Jackson Meeks has earned a position on the Detroit Lions' initial 2026 roster following a successful transition from wide receiver to tight end. Meeks, who signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in May 2025, spent his rookie campaign on the practice squad. The former Georgia and Syracuse player impressed coaching staff during training camp and preseason action. He recorded four catches for 22 yards and a special teams fumble recovery against the Washington Commanders on August 22. He followed that performance with a 6-yard touchdown catch during a victory over the Indianapolis Colts one week later.
