Jackson State freshman kicker Andrew Ivaniciuc sets new school field goal record

Jackson State freshman kicker Andrew Ivaniciuc established a program record with a 51-yard field goal during the Tigers' 26-24 win over Tennessee State. Ivaniciuc, who began playing football as a high school junior in 2024, finished the game 4-for-5 on field goal attempts. His successful 21-yard kick with 2:31 remaining provided the margin of victory for the Tigers in their season opener. Coach T.C. Taylor noted the kicker’s performance despite an early miss, emphasizing his leg power and mental routine. Ivaniciuc previously played soccer and has transitioned to football, showing enough consistency in practice to regularly convert from 52 yards. The Tigers are scheduled to play their next game against Edward Waters on September 5 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
