Jacksonville confirms Ironman bike route avoids St. Johns County in 2027

Ironman will return to Jacksonville on May 16, 2027, featuring a redesigned bike route that will not enter St. Johns County, addressing past traffic and safety issues. This decision follows an incident in which a cyclist was hit by a car during the previous event. Jacksonville officials, including Sports and Entertainment Director Alex Alston and Mayor Donna Deegan, outlined plans for improved safety measures, such as better signage and traffic management, in preparation for the triathlon's second iteration. Alston assured that Ironman events are usually conducted safely worldwide and anticipates similar success in Jacksonville next year.
