Jacksonville Jaguars place rookie defensive end Zach Durfee on injured reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars are moving rookie defensive end Zach Durfee to injured reserve, effective immediately. Durfee, a seventh-round draft choice from the University of Washington, has been sidelined by an upper-body injury. The designation allows the rookie to return to the active roster later this season, provided he sits out a mandatory four-game window. Durfee did not participate in the team's preseason finale due to the injury. By placing him on injured reserve, the Jaguars do not count him toward the initial 53-man roster limit. Reports indicate that the team is retaining undrafted free agent Bryan Thomas Jr. to provide depth at the position in Durfee’s absence.
