Jacksonville Jaguars rookie safety Jalen Huskey acclimates to NFL defensive roles

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie safety Jalen Huskey is preparing for his first NFL season while adjusting to the communication demands of the secondary. Drafted out of Maryland, the third-round selection has participated in training camp and three preseason games, recording seven tackles and one pass breakup. During an August 28 preseason victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Huskey saw a potential fumble-recovery touchdown overturned by replay after officials ruled the play an incomplete pass. The rookie has received mentorship from veteran safeties Eric Murray and Antonio Johnson while competing for a role on special teams. Huskey is currently focused on improving his defensive technique and managing the increased responsibilities required of a safety in the NFL defensive system.
