Jacksonville Waves guard Shyanne Sellers signed with the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks as a developmental player on August 31, 2026. This move marks the first time a player from the Waves franchise has earned a call-up to the WNBA. Sellers, who previously played for the Maryland Terrapins, averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game during the inaugural UPSHOT League season. She also tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists during the team’s 81-76 championship loss to the Charlotte Crown. The UPSHOT League, which began play in May 2026, has now seen four total players move to the WNBA. Other league participants to receive call-ups include Michelle Onyiah to the Indiana Fever, Christyn Williams to the Dallas Wings, and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda to the Los Angeles Sparks.
