Jacob Lombard begins career with Marlins after 2026 draft selection

Jacob Lombard, the Miami Marlins' first-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, visited loanDepot park for the first time on July 25, 2026. Lombard, selected No. 14 overall, was part of a 2026 draft class welcomed by the team before a six-game homestand. He expressed pride in joining the Marlins and discussed his upcoming development at the Marlins' complex in Jupiter. Lombard threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Dax Fulton, a notable player from the Marlins' 2020 draft class. The Marlins are looking for Lombard to develop into a key component of their future, similar to current shortstop Otto Lopez, who has emerged as an All-Star this season.
