Jade O'Dowda wins silver in heptathlon at Commonwealth Games

Jade O'Dowda secured a silver medal in the heptathlon at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The 26-year-old from Sheffield needed to outperform Northern Ireland's Kate O'Connor in the final 800m event to claim gold but finished 2.28 seconds behind despite achieving a season's best time. O'Dowda previously won bronze in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Her teammate Ellen Barbour narrowly missed bronze, finishing fourth. Other highlights for England included Elise Thorner earning silver in the women's 3,000m steeplechase and Ellis Kottas claiming silver in the women's T54 1500m final.
