Jaida Parker is the newest 946 member. And, more than likely, this wasn’t her first night on the job. Raw kicked off with The Bloodline sans Roman Reigns in the ring ready for war. They called out 946, sent warning shots, talked about cars with tons of Petro and no brakes, and of course mentioned running plays. As an aside, they really need to stop talking about “running plays” or any variation of it. Maybe this is their way of tying into football season. Maybe I’m being generous. Either way, let’s just put a stop to that. Please? Thanks. I suspected Jacob Fatu might actually be the fourth member of the crew. Why? Glad you asked. He’s looked woefully inept the past few weeks. He supposedly knows every trick up Royce’s sleeve yet he’s fallen for every single one. What other reason could that be other than him working with the enemy? But then Jaida showed up early in the episode and Jacob seemed genuinely caught off guard. The whole crew was. She pulled up in an SUV just similar enough to make The Bloodline hop out of the ring and confront who they thought was 946. Jey Uso was more than shocked to see his boo thang hop out of the ride. They didn’t explicitly acknowledge their relationship but I hope they do in the future. That makes this a betrayal rather than just Jaida siding with her boys from OTM. As the night went on, we got more segments with The Bloodline talking about plays and an eventual plan. It all came to a head in the final segment when that same van Jaida showed up in to “talk to Pearce” dropped off 946 in front of the arena before pulling off mad quickly. Then we got an incredible brawl. And by bump, I mean getting hit by a car: JACOB FATU HAS BEEN RUN OVER BY A CAR 🤯🤯 WHAT HAS MS. In theory, Jacob’s head was spinning and probably couldn’t hear anything. Royce already knew the truth and there was no one else around to front for. Her walking out of the car and owning it without all the play acting goes more with her character. Unless the angle is she even caught Royce by surprise and this was an OTM call. But those two don’t seem like they’d “call their own plays” without telling the guy in charge. As an aside, girl, you really wanted to front like you didn’t see that man while driving that fast in a garage? And that he “came out of nowhere”? Really? Stop. Jaida is perfect for this crew. She brings the right energy and possibly presents an emotional wrinkle for Jey. This was a spectacular way to end Raw that sets up some hopefully cool things going into the fall. Maybe next time, Jacob, don’t call the wildcat. B-Sides Lola Vice and Roxanne Perez are very familiar with each other. They crossed paths in NXT and that familiarity made for an excellent opening match. What I loved about their NXT bouts is the physicality and emotion. They looked like real fights while also looking like two people who really dislike each other. Lola’s always handled the “fighting” aspects of the game well because, well, she’s a real fighter. She’s tighter on the wrestling part now, helped in large part by people like Roxxy. The Prodigy did what she usually does in that she looked great and made her opponent look better. They established a bout that could go either way, which always works well for Lola because of that backhand, no Serena Williams. It can come out of nowhere, even when it looks like she’s on the ropes, no pun intended. Which is precisely what happened after Roxxy dealt out some serious damage to Lola’s lower back. She backed her into the edge of the announce table to break a submission hold, then rammed her into the edge of the stairs, then followed that with a suplex outside the ring. That gave Lola a place to come back from, which made that insane fist a shock to Roxxy’s system. Of course, all that punishment came back to haunt Lola as Raquel Rodriguez came in like a wreeeeecking ball (don’t mind me, I’m in a good mood) with a hellacious boot to Lola’s face. That led to a nice two-on-one beatdown which stopped when Sol Ruca made the save. There’s a lot of NXT history here. Part of me hopes they play into it but the other part of me knows it won’t matter. Sol and Lola is an interesting combination. I don’t expect it to be long-lasting but rather something to deal with a common enemy. Dragon Lee gave Big Cass his most interesting match since his return to the E. I say that to impress upon you that I find the big man as compelling as a bowl of dollar store brand dish soap. Dragon, on the other hand, doesn’t have that issue. Thankfully, Dragon pulled out the win. Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan for the number one contender spot for Stephanie Vaquer’s championship. That’s next week, not this week. As Nintendo might say, please be excited. I had a thought while watching LA Knight’s well-produced video detailing his story to this point and why he knows he has to defeat Roman Reigns in New Orleans: it’s all wrong. His whole thing is about being nobody’s choice. He said he was held back by politics and people like Roman. Well if he’s so held back, why is WWE giving him slick videos with music, B-roll, and multiple angles? There’s some cognitive dissonance there. Reinforce the story through showing and not telling because nothing that’s happened with LA recently makes me think anyone is holding him back. I think his angle of being the people’s choice works better if it looks like he’s working outside of the system. This is the type of thing WWE did really well with Steve Austin, and WCW did even better with the nWo. I’m not advocating copycatting methods from 30 years ago (Good Lord) but they should figure out what that looks like for 2026. Judgment Day just gets into beef with anyone over anything. That’s not a diss, just an observation. Dirty Dom took umbrage with Penta’s win last week and believes he should be in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Oh, and JD didn’t like Je’Von Evans clowning his Power Ranger helmet head. That led to an incredible tag match delivered on all levels. Penta & Je’Von are an awesome team, JD & Dom are great heels. What could go wrong? The good guys got the win thanks in part to Joe Hendry showing up with guitar in hand and a Funko Pop mascot in tow. JD took his eye off the match briefly, and his partner paid the price. Their victory was short-lived because Bron Breakker took out the winning team. Great way to remind them and everyone that he’s the threat in their upcoming ladder match. They need to re-establish Bron’s dominance. The more he does things like this, the better. Lyra Valkyria thought she was done with Bayley. Not so fast! This is another moment where pro wrestling’s inconsistent logic makes my skin itch a bit, because Lyra clearly cheated to defeat The Role Model. Rather than Adam Pearce correcting that egregious error or Bayley rightly complaining to him, everyone just apparently moves forward. That’s jot always the case but it is here. Like I said, inconsistency. Anyway, Lyra’s complaints to GM Adam about her position on the roster led to a match with IYO SKY, with the idea that the winner moves higher up the ladder. This was another solid match on the night that almost went Lyra’s way until, you guessed it, Frank Stallone. Sorry, wrong bit, wrong writer. You guessed it, Bayley showed up! Lyra’s former partner perched herself on the announce table long enough to distract Lyra and help IYO get the win. Like I said, not so fast. This is pretty much what I expected so props to them for making me look smart. Rey Fenix defends his AAA Cruiserweight Championship against Ethan Page next week. Ethan is no cruiserweight but the champ just wanted a chance to put his foot in Ethan’s behind. This keeps All Ego away from Chad Gable for at least a week. Oba Femi cut an entertaining promo for his upcoming match against Bronson Reed. Actually, the promo was about why he wants the match. Bronson, of course, accepted. Again, logical place to go after their last in-ring interaction. With Bron focused on the briefcase, Austin focused on Maxxine’s rear and hoping it gives him some personality, and Logan doing whatever he does, this makes sense. I really enjoyed Raw. The show started with a bang and never let up. This is the perfect way to start the fall season with several big shows coming up. The Bloodline looks more vulnerable than ever while 946 gains momentum. And everything else around them is falling into place as well. Top marks all around! What say you?
