Jake Meyers returns to Astros, starts in center field against Padres

Jake Meyers has been recalled by the Houston Astros from Triple-A Sugar Land and will start in center field for their game against the San Diego Padres on Friday at Petco Park. Meyers, who was the opening day center fielder, struggled at the plate before his demotion, hitting.206 in 52 games. He replaces Zach Dezenzo, who was sent back to Triple-A. Manager Joe Espada had previously indicated that Daulton Varsho would play center field, but both players will be in the lineup against Padres left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray.
