Jake Rogers designated for assignment by Red Sox after brief tenure

Summary

Jake Rogers has been designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox on August 11, following a short stay with the team. Rogers, who recently transitioned from the Detroit Tigers to the Baltimore Orioles before joining Boston, served mainly as a temporary backup catcher. His designation comes as Adley Rutschman returns from the injured list. Rogers has struggled offensively, posting a.192 batting average since 2024. The Red Sox opted for this move rather than sending him to the minors due to his service time, placing him on waivers instead. Rogers now awaits his next opportunity amidst a chaotic month.
