Jamal Hailey ready to step up as FAMU's lead running back

Florida A&M's redshirt senior Jamal Hailey aims to become the Rattlers' starting running back this season. After a strong showing in 2025, which included rushing for 516 yards and nine touchdowns, Hailey looks to enhance his role in a fast-paced offense under new head coach Quinn Fordham Gray Sr. He initially considered transferring after the coaching change but decided to remain at FAMU. He will wear No. 2 this season, which holds personal significance to him, as he looks to establish himself in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. FAMU's preseason training camp will conclude on August 22, with their first game against Albany State on August 29.
