James Lacy named top student archer in western United States

BaseballJames Lacy, a 16-year-old from Trout Creek, Montana, earned recognition as the top student archer in the western United States at the 2026 National Archery in the Schools Program Western National Tournament in Utah this past April. Competing against 1,232 boys, Lacy's performance qualifies him for the NASP Championship Tournament later this week in Daytona, Florida. He and his younger brother, Garrett Lacy, who also qualified in his age group, are part of TCAC Homeschool Archery, Montana’s only homeschool NASP team. Lacy’s coach, Rachel Nottnagel, emphasized their hard work throughout the year and hopes to inspire other homeschool groups to start their own programs. Lacy is also set to compete in the NASP Scholarship Shoot-off, where he could win a scholarship worth up to $5,000.
