Jamie Humphreys gains eligibility to represent England in World Cup

South Sydney Rabbitohs playmaker Jamie Humphreys has been cleared to play for England in the upcoming Rugby League World Cup. International Rugby League confirmed his eligibility following an application process. The 24-year-old utility, who has made 36 career NRL appearances, is now in contention for the 23-man squad set to tour Australia for the October tournament. Coach Brian McDermott previously named a 38-man squad in June that included several potential international debutants from the NRL. Humphreys, who began his career at the Manly Sea Eagles before moving to South Sydney in 2025, expressed a desire to represent his heritage and provide a pathway for young rugby league players in London. England begins its campaign against Tonga in Perth on October 17.
