Jarred Gillett will officiate the EFL Cup tie between Chelsea and United

The EFL has appointed Jarred Gillett to oversee Wednesday’s EFL Cup Round Three match at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and United. Gillett enters the fixture with experience officiating 11 previous matches involving United, a run that resulted in three victories and five draws for the club. Chelsea has faced teams under Gillett's supervision 13 times, recording seven wins and two losses, including a 1-0 victory in an Emirates FA Cup semi-final last April. The referee will be joined on the sidelines by assistant referees Neil Davies and Steven Meredith, with Robert Madley assigned as the fourth official. VAR technology will not be utilized for this round of the competition. Gillett has officiated two matches so far this season, issuing seven yellow cards and no red cards during those appearances.
