Jason Kelce defends tush push technique following Seattle Seahawks penalty

Retired center Jason Kelce responded to fan criticism regarding the tush push play after the Seattle Seahawks faced an offside penalty while attempting their own variation, known as the Barnyard. The Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots during the Wednesday night opening game of the 2026 NFL season. Seattle operated for much of the contest without starting quarterback Sam Darnold and incurred 10 total penalties at Lumen Field. Kelce utilized social media to clarify rules regarding the neutral zone and the positioning of players during the play. The former Philadelphia Eagles player previously defended the maneuver amid ongoing league-wide debate over whether the tactic should be banned. The Eagles are scheduled to face the Washington Commanders this coming Sunday.
